Witch House, Odessa, Ukraine
House or just a facade? Situated not far from the Vorontsov Castle this building is one of the visiting cards of Odessa. It was built about 150 years ago. At first sight it seems to be built only for thin people, but in fact the secret of architectural deception was revealed: the back wall of the house is at a sharp angle, it is directly adjacent to a facade, and, as a matter of fact, the house has a triangular shape.
The locals like to tell different legends about this exclusive building: according to one, during the construction of the house, in the period of Tsarist Russia, due to lack of money the side wall was not built, and the two opposite walls were attached to each other, while another legend tells that there were only ghosts living in that thin house.
So, with the help of visual deception and urban legends, the house number 4 in the Vorontsov Lane became one or the main attractions of Odessa.
