The Waldspirale (Forest Spiral) is a fantastic residential building complex in Darmstadt, Germany.. Building designed by Austrian architect and painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser with the help of the German architect Heinz M. Springmann. The building was constructed by the Bauverein Darmstadt company with completion in 2000. The U-shaped 12 story residential building complex emulates the layers of sedimentary rock that you might see in a jutting outcrop deep in the mountains. The "Forest Spiral" features 105 apartments, 1000 different shaped windows , "green roof" and inner courtyard with an artificial lake.
